Part Time Worship Leader

 

Ware Shoals First Baptist Church is a welcoming community church. Our mission is to glorify God, grow in our faith, and share His love with the world.

We are seeking a Spirit led and passionate Worship Leader to join our team, someone who is eager to cultivate

 an atmosphere of authentic worship and guide our congregation into a deeper relationship with God through music.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

●    Worship Planning: Collaborate with the Pastor and Audio/Visual team to plan and conduct worship services, ensuring a seamless and engaging experience.

●    Musical Leadership: Lead the congregation in worship through music during Sunday services and other special services, such as Christmas Eve, community services, VBS and cantatas.

●    Team Development: Plan and direct choir rehearsals, as well as recruit, train and mentor volunteer musicians and vocalists.

●    Administrative Duties: Maintain and organize the music library, materials, supplies, musical instruments and equipment. Prepare and administer an annual music budget for approval. 

●    Technical Communication: Communicate music and service needs to the A/V team for each service.

●    Team Collaboration: Work cooperatively with the entire church staff in a spirit of respect, collaboration, and unity.

Church Overview

West Side Baptist Church is a growing Southern Baptist church in Greenwood, South Carolina, averaging 175–200 in weekly worship attendance. Our mission is to glorify God by making disciples of Jesus Christ. We are seeking a gospel-centered, relational leader to shepherd our students and college-aged adults, equipping them to know Christ, love His Church, and make disciples. This is a full-time position.


Position Summary

The Associate Pastor of Family Ministries will provide pastoral leadership to the church's youth ministry (grades 6–12) and college ministry while equipping and encouraging parents as the primary disciplers of their children. This pastor will lead through biblical teaching, relational discipleship, pastoral care, leadership development, and intentional partnership with families.

The Associate Pastor of Family Ministries will serve alongside the Senior Pastor to help shepherd the congregation, strengthen families, and cultivate a disciple-making culture throughout the church. This position is pastoral in nature and is intended for someone who desires not merely to lead programs but to shepherd people.


Responsibilities


Pastoral Leadership

  Shepherd the students, college-aged adults, and families entrusted to your care through intentional relationships and biblical encouragement.

  Provide pastoral care, counseling, and spiritual guidance as appropriate.

  Assist the Senior Pastor in the overall shepherding ministry of the church.

  Preach during Sunday worship services as assigned.

  Participate in weddings, funerals, hospital visitation, membership interviews, and other pastoral responsibilities as opportunities arise.

  Help cultivate a culture of discipleship throughout the church.

 

Student Ministry

  Lead and oversee all ministries for students (grades 6–12).

  Plan and teach weekly Bible studies (Wednesday and Sunday Nights).

  Build meaningful relationships with students through intentional discipleship.

  Recruit, train, and shepherd volunteer leaders.

  Create opportunities for students to grow in biblical literacy, prayer, evangelism, and service.

  Organize camps, retreats, mission trips, outreach events, and fellowship opportunities.

  Encourage students to become active participants in the life of the church rather than merely attending youth events.

 

College Ministry

  Develop and lead a ministry to college-aged young adults.

  Build relationships with local college students and young adults in the community.

  Encourage college students to become engaged members of the local church.

 

Parent & Family Discipleship

  Equip parents to disciple their children at home.

  Provide biblical resources, encouragement, and practical training for parents.

  Build intentional relationships with families through regular communication and personal interaction.

  Offer classes, workshops, or discipleship opportunities that strengthen parents in their spiritual leadership.

  Help families develop a Christ-centered vision for the home.

  Encourage healthy family worship, prayer, and Scripture reading.

  Partner with parents rather than replacing them in the discipleship process.

 

Qualifications

The successful candidate will:

  Have a clear testimony of saving faith in Jesus Christ.

  Demonstrate a growing and mature walk with Christ.

  Meet the biblical qualifications for a pastor/elder found in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.

  Affirm the Baptist Faith & Message 2000.

  Possess a clear call to pastoral ministry.

  Have a passion for making disciples and shepherding families.

  Be gifted in the faithful preaching and teaching of God's Word.

  Love students, college-aged adults, parents, and families.

  Demonstrate humility, integrity, and servant leadership.

  Possess strong organizational, relational, and communication skills.

  Work well with church staff, volunteers, and church leadership.

  Successfully complete a background check.

 

Preferred

  Seminary training or currently pursuing theological education.

  Experience serving in student, family, or pastoral ministry.
